Christmas Greeting from your favorite Icelandic Mountain Guide

Klængshóll Lodge

Greetings my dear friends and fellow travelers

Attached is a small Christmas greeting from the far corner of Iceland, from the midst of the mountains of the Troll Peninsula, where the raging blizzard has settled in and tries his best to brake our spirits on this shortest day of the year. If only he knew that unlike the rest of the ''farmers'' in the valley, I actually scream for more snow.

This year we decided that instead of contributing to the worlds deforestation and Co2 buildup associated with mailing out hundreds of Christmas cards we would take the money and do something useful, so we bought lots of beer and are throwing a big party.....no just kidding. This year we will be supporting the local touring/alpine club which has recently started out on the path of building up a great network of mountain huts on the Troll Peninsula as well as raising local awareness of mountain activities such as ski touring and climbing. So I'm afraid that you won't be getting a card, but you can rejoice in the thought of a warm and cosy mountain hut being built with the help of Bergmenn Mountain Guides.

But all the same, I would like to use this opportunity to thank all of you who joined Bergmenn or Arctic Heli Skiing this year on one or more of our excellent adventures in Iceland, Greenland or around the globe as well as all our friends, colleagues, sponsors and partners in pain or pleasure for their continued friendship and support.

Stay tuned for our 2010 summary and the program for 2011 which is filled to the brim with extraordinary ski touring, heli skiing, ice and alpine climbing adventures in all four corners of the world.

On behalf of Bergmenn Mountain Guides and Arctic Heli Skiing I wish you and yours, all the best for the holidays and hope to see you in the mountains in the new year.

All the best from ''Niceland''

Free Radicals in Iceland

Filming heli skiing in Iceland for Free Radicals and Arctic Heli Skiing
During April 2010 the Swedish team of Fredrik Ericsson and Per Jonsson heli skied the mountains of the Troll Peninsula in Iceland and shot footage for the Arctic Heli Skiing promotional video. But they were also on a mission on behalf of Swedish ski film company Free Radicals for whom they shot some of the less ''average joe'' scenes, went big and crashed hard. Check out the trailer
