Our own Karlsá Ski Touring Lodge will be opening its doors to groups and individuals as a ski in, ski out lodge specialized in hosting ski touring groups. Karlsá is the latest addition to the Bergmenn Mountain Guides program and is owned and operated by Bergmenn just like its sister property Klængshóll Lodge.
Built in the late 1920´s but since renovated the main house is a great example of the architecture and style of the era and all efforts have been made to retain the style and charm of the original structure. In addition the old cow shed has now been transformed into a workshop where skiers can store and maintain their equipment.
The main house comfortably sleeps 14 people in 7 double/twin rooms that have access to 4 bathrooms and 4 showers along with a comfortable lounge, a dining room and kitchen, making Karlsá the perfect location to base out of on your ski touring adventure.
It has been said that location is everything and in that regards Karlsá is quite possibly the best location in Northern Iceland to base out of for ski touring trips. At only 40 minutes away from Akureyri airport 2 minutes away from Dalvík, 10 minutes away from Olafsfjördur and strategically located right in the middle of the best ski touring terrain on the Troll Peninsula, no location comes close to Karlsá Lodge in convenience and ease of access. In addition Karlsá is the only ski in ski out ski touring lodge on the Troll Peninsula and the famous Karlsádalur with its multitude of runs and awesome terrain is on the property and now owned by Bergmenn Mountain Guides!
In addition Karlsá is situated right on the ocean with spectacular views across the fjord to the Gold Coast hence combining the two things that make skiing in Iceland so very special, the mountains and the ocean, skiing all the way to the sea.
