Ice climbing course in Iceland

Ice climbing course in IcelandIce climbing basics is intended for those that want to try this great sport or those that already have a bit of experience but would like to advance their skills with the help of a professional. The main focus of this course is to coach participants on movement skills, anchor building and general technique. At the end of the course participants should be able to safely put up top roping anchors in ice and have basic understanding of ice climbing technique and safety

Length of trip: One evening and one day
Dates: All year
Price: 250.- EUR per person  (Minimum 2 participants)

The duration of the ice climbing course is one evening session and one day in the field on either frozen waterfalls or a glacier. The evening session is intended to prepare the participants for the field day by introducing them to the equipment, safety procedures and techniques. Equipment plays an important role in ice climbing and we spend quite some time going over the different tools and gadgets required to climb ice. Ice climbing is not a risk free sport and therefore it is extremely important to go over and discuss all the objective hazards associated with the sport so that during the field day we can put that knowledge into practice. We will also go over climbing technique, ropes, knots and all the basics of ice climbing. Our field day is dedicated to movement on ice, anchor building and furthering our awareness of safety issues and emergency procedures.
